Our new Extreme Duty 4L80E/4L85E input shaft is rated for use with 1,500+ flywheel horsepower, and comes standard in every one of our Heavy Duty (HD) series and Extreme Duty (XD) series 4L80E transmissions. This superior new input shaft is available under part number HP2514. This premium shaft is manufactured from a billet of 300M steel. As part of the manufacturing process each HP2514 input shaft is subjected to a multi-stage heat treatment process and then finished with a unique nitriding treatment which gives the shaft its distinctive black appearance.
10562500We are excited to announce the release of our new shallow cast aluminum pan for 4L80E transmissions! This pan is available under part number HP2582. The kit includes the oil pan, drain plug, bolts, washers, filter, and gasket. The HP2582 pan features stock GM fluid capacity, and is ideally suited for customers that desire the superior sealing characteristics of our cast aluminum pan but do not have the extra ground clearance for our deep HP2580 pan. This pan is a great choice for lowered muscle cars and hot rods utilizing a 4L80E transmission. The new HP2582 pan features an overall height of 3-1/16″. This dimension is only 1/4″ taller than a stock GM stamped steel pan, and is a full 1-3/8″ shorter than our deep HP2580 pan.
hp2235sWe have added another great dipstick and tube to our product line. This new model is our NHRA-approved “shorty” locking dipstick and filler tube for the TH400 transmission. With the ever-increasing popularity of 2-speed and 3-speed TH400 transmissions being used in chassis applications such as Pro Mod, Outlaw 10.5, Extreme Drag Radial, etc., this dipstick and tube is the perfect fit for these types of race cars where dipstick access is severely limited. This new product is available under part number HP2235S. We have plenty in stock and ready to ship!
dipsticksHughes Performance is excited to announce the addition of two new locking dipstick and filler tube assemblies to our product line!
Hughes Performance now has available a special 3-pack of Powerglide front pump gaskets. This gasket kit includes (1) .015″ gasket, (1) .030″ gasket, and (1) .060″ gasket. This gasket kit allows the transmission builder to easily and quickly adjust end-play within the transmission. This gasket kit is especially helpful in those situations where the end-play is too tight and the builder does not have the necessary equipment to machine the pump stator to increase clearance within the transmission.

Hughes Performance is the “go to” transmission company!  I was looking for a street/strip TH350 for my 1970 Chevy C-10, (slightly modified), pickup.  I sent a tech card to them from the tab on their website and received a response just days later.  (I had also sent a “tech card” to two of their competitors, with no response what so ever!)  Pete Nichols responded with his recommendations for my application.  I e-mailed Pete with a number of questions I had and his responses were almost immediate and very friendly.

Needless to say, I purchased their GM 35-1 transmission and the recommended GM 25 torque converter, dipstick tube and fluid.  What a combination!!  It was built, dyno tested, and crated, as promised, within 4-6 days.  This was no “off the shelf transmission”.  It was built to my tech card specs shipped and received in a very timely manner.  The label on the tranny and the accompanying paperwork and dyno card was signed and dated by the builder/technician.  You don’t see that very often.  Installation instructions left nothing to be desired and although I have installed a few trannies over the years, I still learned quite a few tips I had not previously been aware of.  The installation into my vehicle went extremely well but the test drive was fantastic!!!  The truck shifted like never before and the response was impressive.  I strongly believe I received a transmission built for MY truck, not just an “off the shelf” GM TH350.
